In future experiences notice the constant streams of liking, disliking or bland neutrality and realize them. What makes you angry or frustrated? What is makes you happy? And what in life is simply neutral – meaning you could care less either way? The object to gaining more wisdom and control of your emotions is to treat all feelings equal (the good and bad and the neutral) Make space and become aware of all feelings and the feelings of others and find sensitivity instead of reacting blindly. I.E. when you hate someone or something it is not the person you hate but the feelings of hatred inside your mind. Your projected hate, love, envy, pride, etc. projects outward. It affects the way you project yourself to the world and you can form control patterns that are not positive. Always focus on the experience itself not the object or person that gives rise to the experience. Be careful not to live your life in terms of feelings that you think somehow are invested in objects or people rather than yourself – your mind. When you feel strong emotions you should switch to from focusing on the external object that seems to cause the trouble and turns toward what you are feeling in your own body and mind.

An Open Mind Revisited
For most people, all the psychological baggage that piles up in our subconscious over the years clouds perceptions. Negative influences in infancy and adolescence, failed relationships, addictions, and laziness, to name a few, weighs us down and prevents us from seeing ourselves clearly. To look at life with an open mind means seeing how these influences have shaped you and understanding how they have made you who you are today. To look at life with an open mind means admission that you are molded clay—you are a product of your parents, guardians, friends, school, and environment. Seeing this helps one acknowledge personal shortcomings and also helps us understand why we act and react the way we do. To understand our past and how it shapes us is to understand ourselves better. Once we have a grasp on our issues, we can peel away the layers that weigh us down and emerge a balanced individual ready to tackle life with an open mind.
Living with an open mind requires dedication and perseverance. We must find faith in our own belief systems based on our needs and desires. We must come to an understanding of God and creation through our own reasoning. We must learn to observe our actions and the actions of others and be confident that they are leading us down the correct path. Living with an open mind can be as exhausting as it is rewarding. It is easy to be lazy and go with the flow, living under control patterns and low self esteem. Sadly, it is easier to be miserable than to fight for happiness. To think with an open mind requires discipline. It requires us to push ourselves and strive for better things. It requires us to go beyond our five senses and interpret the world we live in with no biased reasoning. And it requires us to make sure all of our actions are the right ones to take—that they affect our lives and the lives of others in a positive way.

Blue Sky
In the autumn be certain the leaves will fall
And in spring will summery birth
For such things are constant
The stars at night
Blue sky
Unwavering we cannot deny
